Hoy en Clase (Spanish, Weds Sep 30)

Today in Spanish class,

We presented our Spain projects.
We submitted our binders for the binder check.
While others were presenting, the rest of the class learned about the verb GUSTAR.

Gustar is different from most verbs we will learn.  It conjugates in agreement with the object, not the subject.  So, instead of saying "I like school," in Spanish one would say "The school is pleasing to me."

Me gusta la escuela.
La escuela me gusta.

These sentences mean the exact same thing in English:  I like school.

For plural things that you or anyone likes, "gusta" changes to the plural form "gustan".  But, the pronoun (me, te, le, les) will not change.

Me gustan las escuelas nuevas.
I like new schools.
Te gustan las escuelas viejas.
You like old schools.
(To you are pleasing the old schools).

To practice this concept, we did p 58 activity 20, p 61 activity 26, p62 Copy into Notes (including the section "en ingles".
