This class fulfills the "Preparation Linguistique" section requirement of Mobilité Internationale.

Objectives:
The aim of this class is to familiarize students with anglophone countries and prepare them for visits abroad.  

Themes discussed by country will include:  
  • administrative and political organization, 
  • contemporary history, 
  • populations, 
  • university systems, 
  • health systems, 
  • culture (literature, cinema and arts), 
  • leisure, 
  • traditions, 
  • heritage, 
  • economic data, 
  • history 
  • and more.  
Themes discussed for preparation for journeys abroad will include: 
  • administrative formalities (IDs, passports and visas), 
  • money (cards and exchange rates for cash), 
  • health, 
  • finding a place to live, 
  • responding to an announcement, 
  • finding a job, 
  • university life.
Grade Rubric:
  • Participation: 25% - includes attendance, activities, homework
  • Parrainage paper: 25%
  •  Oral Exam: Thursday, March 14 - 25%
  • Written Exam: Thursday, April 11 - 25%
Late work:
If you miss a class WITH TEACHER APPROVAL, you may go to this website and do the work, then email it to the teacher.  You will have a reduction of at least 5 points on any assignment that is received on a day other than the one dictated by the teacher for the entire class.  No "make-up" exams will be given - if you miss the oral or written exam, you will receive an ABI.  You may consult your department regarding "rattrapage."
