3. Homework for next time: parents.
- Write about your parents. What is their parenting style? Are they strict? Relaxed? Do they care about your school work? What kind of rules are there in your house? Are there things about which you disagree - politics, religion, entertainment, life in general? Has your opinion on the things mentioned above changed as you got older?

Today in class - Langue Vivante
1. Roll: First and last letters
2. Listening: Travelin' Soldier - Dixie Chicks*
What does/will the boy do for a living?
What does the girl do?
What physical aspect of the girl is described?
How do they meet? In which decade?
What comes between the couple?
What happens?
3. Book Reports
4. Presentations: Ideal Societies
5. Diaries
Diaries are due next class - April 8. Must be in 12 point font, double spaced!
*The Dixie Chicks are a band from Dallas, Texas who were boycotted by radio stations after insulting George Bush at a concert abroad. They also received death threats because of their statements. In a song (below) written in response to those threats, lead singer Natalie Maines says, "It's a sad, sad story when a mother will teach her daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger." What examples exist of blind hatred in the world?
PS: "Make nice" is a term used by adults when they want children to stop fighting. ("Stop hitting your sister, say you're sorry and make nice right now!") Another phrase to use after a fight is "forgive and forget," that is, accept the apology and don't hold the event against another person.

Today in class, 20-1 LV2
- We started class with the roll call question: What is the most important thing to have before having a baby?
- We then did our death penalty debates, switching positions between pro, con, and moderator roles.
- We worked independently in the CRL.
- We wrote in our diaries.
- The homework for next time is as follows:
Create your own movie review. You should include some details about the movie, but don't give away too much information or your audience will have no desire to see the movie. Talk about the characters, the story, and the best/worst scenes. At the end, think of a philosophical question for your audience based on the themes presented in the movie.
If you need help structuring your review, you can find some movie reviews listed below:
"Brave" (careful, this one uses rather advanced English)
DO NOT copy your review from a website. You must write the entire review with your own opinions.
